🚨 Prisons Are More Pro-Vape Than NYC

GD Vape Nerds!

Oklahoma just became the first state in America to let inmates buy vapes and nicotine pouches from the prison commissary.

Yeah, you read that right. While half the country is banning flavors and taxing us into oblivion, the Department of Corrections is setting up shop inside correctional facilities.

Oh, and if you like or use nicotine pouches you have got to see this.

Today, we're covering:

  • Oklahoma's Bold Move: Why prisons are embracing harm reduction before most states
  • Walgreens Returns: The retail giant is back in the vape business
  • New York's Registry Plan: More tracking, more taxes, same old story
  • China's Pouch Crackdown: What happens when the world's biggest nicotine market tightens the screws
  • 10 New Releases: From 70K puff monsters to premium pod systems

Oklahoma Prisons: Harm Reduction Behind Bars

Starting this year, inmates in Oklahoma state prisons can purchase nicotine vapes and pouches through the commissary system.

This makes Oklahoma the first state prison system in the nation to allow regulated nicotine products behind bars.

Here's the thing: this isn't just progressive policy—it's smart risk management.

Contraband tobacco has always been a major currency and violence trigger in prisons. Cigarettes get smuggled in, fights break out over them, and correctional officers deal with constant smoke-related health issues.

Enter vapes and pouches: no combustion, no smuggling incentive, easier to regulate.

Oklahoma looked at the data and said, "Why are we fighting this?"

The implications? If this pilot works, expect other state systems to follow. Harm reduction is slowly winning, even in the most conservative environments.

Walgreens Is Back (Again)

Remember when Walgreens pulled vapes from shelves amid the EVALI panic? Then came back? Then scaled back again?

Well, they're restocking. Again.

Retail is a game of market pressure and liability calculus. When the data showed nicotine vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking and the FDA started approving products, major retailers started reconsidering their positions.

Walgreens clearly sees the writing on the wall: adult smokers want alternatives, and leaving that market to gas stations and vape shops means leaving money on the table.

What this means for you: More access, more competition, potentially better prices. Just don't expect premium brands or innovative devices, you'll get the basics.

New York's Vape Registry + Tax Hike

New York Governor Kathy Hochul just proposed a new vape product registry combined with increased taxes on nicotine products.

  • The pitch? "Consumer safety and preventing youth access."
  • The reality? More bureaucratic red tape that crushes small businesses while big tobacco adapts and passes costs to consumers.

Here's what the proposal includes:

  • Mandatory registry for all vape products sold in NY
  • Additional taxes on nicotine content (specifics still being hammered out)
  • Increased penalties for retailers who fail to comply.

My take: Registries don't stop youth vaping; enforcement at point of sale does. This is revenue-generation dressed up as public health policy. And it's typical of the kind of racketeering you get from crooked city bureaucrats.

If you're in New York, expect prices to climb and product selection to narrow. Again.

China Regulates Nicotine Pouches

China just classified nicotine pouches under the same regulatory framework as tobacco products, bringing the hammer down on what's been a Wild West market.

I ONLY buy pouches made in the US of A, so this isn't really too much of an issue. But for some of the cheaper, less well known brands you see in 7/11's and gas stations. Yeah, it could be end-times.

Why does this matter? China is the world's largest nicotine market and a major manufacturing hub. When China regulates something, global supply chains feel it.

The new rules include:

  • Licensing requirements for manufacturers and distributors
  • Flavor restrictions (sound familiar?)
  • Marketing and packaging regulations
  • Taxation aligned with tobacco products

For consumers outside China: Expect potential price increases on certain brands and possible supply disruptions as manufacturers adapt.

The good news? Established Western brands probably won't see major impacts since they're already operating under strict regulations.

New Releases: What Just Hit the Market

Alright, let's talk hardware. Ten new devices just dropped, ranging from absurd high-capacity disposables to refined pod systems.

Here's what's worth knowing:

The High-Capacity Monsters

VOOM Meteor 70K – Yeah, you read that right. 70,000 puffs. It's got a 1000 mAh battery, 20 mL capacity, dual mesh coils, and adjustable airflow. Is this necessary? Hell no. Is it impressive? Absolutely. For chronic disposable users who hate recharging.

Kangvape Speedy Beast X – Up to 60,000 puffs in regular mode, dual 3D curved screens, and festive branding. It's a technical showcase wrapped in holiday cheer. If you missed it during the holidays, it's still floating around.

OXBAR MAGLINK – The interesting one here is the magnetic pod system. 50,000 puffs, swappable pods, dual mesh coils. It's a hybrid approach that might actually make sense for heavy users who want flexibility.

ASDF Tempo – 30,000 puffs with an interactive screen and three power modes (Normal, Boost, Turbo). Click it three times to switch modes. Adjustable airflow, dual mesh coil, and 10 flavors. Solid mid-capacity option.

The Pod Systems

Lost Vape Thelema Aura S – A proper 40-watt pod system with a 1600 mAh battery and Quest 2.0 chipset. ECO and BOOST modes, 3 mL capacity, and compatibility with E Plus Cartridge V2. Lost Vape rarely misses on build quality.

Lost Vape Thelema Nexus Mini – For MTL fans. 25 watts, 1200 mAh, zinc alloy frame, and four power levels. Weighs only 51.6 grams. If you want a pocket-friendly mouth-to-lung device, this checks the boxes.

SMOK NOVO CLASSY – 1350 mAh, 5-35 watts, 0.96-inch TFT display with 6 UI themes. Uses 3 mL NOVO CLX pods. Variable Wattage, Auto Mode, and Memory Mode. SMOK's doing what SMOK does—cramming features into a compact package.

UWELL Caliburn G5 Lite – The budget version of UWELL's Caliburn line. 1600 mAh, 35 watts, 3 mL capacity, dual adjustable airflow (MTL/RDL), and PRO-FOCS 4.0 technology. Translucent dual-layer design. If you want UWELL quality without the premium price, here you go.

UWELL Caliburn G5 Lite SE – Same specs as the G5 Lite but with a premium dual-tone leather finish. For people who want their vape to look classy on the desk.

UWELL Caliburn G4 Times – Limited edition with a puff-limit timer. 1300 mAh, 35 watts, 3 mL refillable pod. The timer feature is actually interesting—helps you track and control usage if you're trying to cut back.

My Advice:

If you're in the market for a new device, the pod systems from Lost Vape and UWELL are solid picks.

Me? I'm rocking the Vaporesso XROS Pro 2 right now (and probably will be for the rest of the year. It's THAT good).

Whatever shopping you do today, make sure you do it through this first (it'll save you 10% at checkout, automatically).

The high-capacity disposables are impressive from a tech standpoint, but let's be real: a refillable pod is always preferable (and cheaper to run, long-term).

If you're in New York, stock up before those new taxes hit.

And if you're just here for the Oklahoma prison story, yeah, that's the most interesting thing happening in vaping right now.

Fingers crossed it's a sign of things to come!

Peace.
